Coalitions

ICAH actively participates in collaborative partnerships to further promote sound public policies and practices around adolescent health at the local, state, and federal levels.

  • A statewide campaign led by groups and individuals committed to real reform in the quality and funding of public education for all Illinois children. A+ Illinois seeks to improve the quality of life of children and their families through a comprehensive restructuring of state finances that balances property tax reform with new state revenues that fairly and adequately respond to community needs.
  • A statewide coalition advocating for full reproductive autonomy -- free from government intereference -- regarding an invididual's ability to use bith control, carry a pregnancy to term, or terminate a pregnancy. The campaign promotes comprehensive sexual health education in Illinois schools and advocates for government-funded health care programs, such as Medicaid, to cover basic reproductive health care services. To promote these goals, the coalition supports the Reproductive Health and Access Act in the Illinois General Assembly.
  • Led by the Federation for Community Schools, Elev8 seeks to transform the educational achievement and life outcomes of disadvantaged middle school students in five Chicago schools. Elev8 establishes networks of relationships among school and community partners to: extend the school day with afternoon, weekend, and summer programs; create on-site, adolescent-focused health clinics; provide social supports; mobilize parent and community leaders to accelerate change and promote advocacy; and advocate for policies that support similar comprehensive programs in other schools, locally and nationally.
  • Health Care for America NOW!
A national grassroots campaign dedicated to winning quality, affordable health care we all can count on. HCAN is building a movement to win comprehensive health care reform by helping mobilize people in their communities to lobby their U.S. Senators and Representatives in Congress to stand up to the insurance companies and other special interest groups to achieve quality, affordable health care.

  • Hyde - 30 Years is Enough! Campaign
A national coalition of organizations and individuals who believe in reproductive justice, a world in which all women have the power and resources necessary to make healthy decisions about their bodies and their families. The campaign calls for full public funding of abortion as a part of comprehensive health care as well as support for low-income women to care for their children with dignity. The coalition supports repealing the 1976 Hyde Amendment.
  • A project of the Illinois Maternal and Child Health Coalition, the coalition seeks to improve the physical and mental health status of children and adolescents of Illinois by advocating for the development, stabilization, and expansion of school-based and -linked health centers. Members advocate on the local, state and national levels to improve access to quality care, to improve the health of children and teens, and to secure funding for school health centers.
  • Prevention Now! Expanding Global Access to Female Condoms
A global campaign working to prevent the spread of HIV, reduce unintended pregnancy, and advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people worldwide. The main goal of the  campaign is to ensure that governments and donor agencies provide the funds needed to dramatically increase access to female condoms and other existing HIV prevention options for women and men.
  • SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective
A national network of women of color and allied organizations and individuals working together for reproductive justice. The collective serves as a training and capacity-building center for reproductive justice organizations working for human rights as well as a voice for U.S. women of color in the reproductive health and sexual rights movement domestically and globally.
