JOIN US FOR OUR FIRST-EVER TITLE IX TOWN HALL, FEBRUARY 20TH AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MEXICAN ART!
The youth leaders and adult accomplices of ICAH’s Change, Heal, Act Together (CHAT) Network have teamed up with Rape Victim Advocates (RVA) and Illinois Safe Schools Alliance to host a community education event about how Title IX can protect students in Chicago Public Schools (CPS), centering youth voice and experiences.
Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Our organizations are committed to making the promise of Title IX a reality for all young people, in particular, LGBTQQIA+ students, survivors of sexual violence, and pregnant and parenting students in the state of Illinois. We can all do better to support the academic success and safety of CPS students.
Join us and:
⟶ Hear directly from young people about how the CPS Trans Guidelines and other Title IX-related protections, like sexual harassment policies, are affecting youth in schools.
⟶ Learn about ICAH’s Title IX Model Policy proposal for supporting pregnant and parenting students, directly from young parents and school-based staff.
⟶ Strategize next steps with parents, administrators, and young people themselves.
We hope to see you there! Event 6-8pm, Doors open @ 5:30pm. Food provided. RSVP below.
